SAMAA's journey has just begun with a vision to spread the knowledge of the Indian Classical Dance forms - Kathak & Bharatanatyam.
We at SAMAA ingrain an in-depth understanding of the art forms and impart training of both Kathak and Bharatanatyam utilising modern pedagogy.

KATHAK

Kathak is a Classical Dance form of North India. The origin of Kathak is traditionally attributed to the traveling bards in the temples of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan known as Kathakars or storytellers.
This art form moved from the temples to the courts, having an influence of both the Hindu and the Islamic cultures. Today, Kathak has emerged as a distinct dance form, using Hindustani Music. At SAMAA we impart training in both the Lucknow and the Jaipur Gharanas of Kathak.

BHARATANATYAM

Bharatanatyam, also called as Sadir Attam, is a Classical dance form of South India. It originated in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The dance moved from the temples to the theaters over time, but has retained its characteristic devotional component, expression of human emotions, and stylised storytelling. The flexibility of the Bharatanatyam framework lends itself well to both traditional as well as modern concepts. At SAMAA one gets to learn the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam.
